CREDIT CARD PAYMENT PLANNER TOOL

Written by redbalmeo on 9:10 AM

Have you been receiving calls from agents asking you to pay up your credit card bills? We all know they would not stop unless you pay. Sometimes they even threaten non-paying clients with law suits. None of which happens anyway. So should you just run away from your debt? Nope I don' think it's a good idea. It would hurt your credit standing. You may need some money in the future but because you don't have a good standing, you cannot borrow.

The best thing to do? There's no more better thing than to sit down with your collecting agent and tell them you cannot pay the whole amount. I'm sure they'll offer you installment payments. Grab that opportunity. Don't let running away from your credit card debt hurt you.

What amount should you pay? I think the best payment is where most of your installment payment goes to the principal, otherwise, you will end up paying more interest since you are not reducing your debt.

How could you know the best scheme to pay? Any amount is okay, as long as your payment applies more to the principal.

You may want to download this excel sheet I have created to help you plan your credit card bills payment.

The excel files asks for your name, credit card balance, the payment you are willing to make every month and the interest rate (monthly) your credit card company asks you.

It then tells you when you will be able to pay your credit card bill and whether your payment is optimal or not.

We take a 37,000-credit card debt for example:

By paying 3,000 per month, you will be able to pay your credit card bill in 18 months

On the other hand, if you pay only 1,500, there is no chance you could pay your total debt. You couldn't have known that. You might think that if you divide 37,000/1,500, you will be able to pay in 24 months. You should take note of the interest you are paying.

CREDIT CARD PAYMENT PLANNER

Written by redbalmeo on 4:39 AM

Everyone or almost everybody has this plastic thing that gives you the power to spend even without carrying a cash. Yes, it's no other than the credit card. Credit card are used to be a thing for the rich. But now, almost everyone can have it. Students can have it too. There are even agents calling houses offering their credit card with statements like waived annual fee, zero percent balance transfer, etc. This phenomenon has created a nation spending more than what they earn. The end scenario? credit card debt, debt and debt...

Since we are not aware what we have spent already, we tend to spend, spend and spend. Too late do we realize that we're heavily indebted already. If we cannot pay anymore? The credit card is taken away and what are we left with? credit card debts of course. Then we call the credit card company and tell we cannot pay anymore. They are generous to offer installment payments, so we decide to pay them little by little until we settle the full amount.

The question is how much should we pay for our credit card debt? The minimum payment required? It is not the optimal amount to pay. Why? Because if we pay them only minimal amount, a portion of that payment goes to interest and what remains is applied to the principal. We end up paying only for the interest of our credit card debt and our debt continues to grow. What to do? Pay the optimal amount. The amount by which most of your payment goes to paying the principal amount. It is only this way that our credit card debt is reduced little by little.

So what is the optimal amount to pay your credit card debt? The answer varies... It depends on your paying capacity. Take the following example:

Photobucket
Figure 1. If we don't pay the optimal amount for our credit card debt, our debt will continue to grow and we will end up paying only for the interest.

Photobucket
Figure 2. An example of optimal payment. We are not constrained of paying 3,000 for a 30,000-credit card debt. But this is an optimal payment since our payment covers more of the principal than the interest. By paying this way, our debt decreases little by little until we settle the full amount.

So what really is the optimal payment? Again it is in your discretion. Download this free excel file called CREDIT CARD PAYMENT PLANNER to help you decide what optimal payment is for you.

The following are the screenshots of the file.

1. With this excel file (credit card payment planner), you can set the amount of payment and see whether you are paying optimally
2. You can know how long it will take you to pay your whole debt with your set monthly payment

SHOULD YOU SAVE IN A BANK?

Written by redbalmeo on 5:33 AM

There are a lot of people – including me-- who are looking for ways to get rich. The good news is we can also find a number of articles, web sites and materials claiming that if you follow their steps, you are on your way to financial independence.

Although these materials present various ways of attaining financial independence, they all agree on one thing ---we must save what we earn. Some people however think that it’s the end of the story; when you save, you will get rich. Little do they know that it’s just the start of the story; a mere slice of the cake. The next thing we should concern ourselves with, is where to put the money. The most popular answer – “the bank.”

I beg to differ. Banks are not the right place to invest your excess money. I am not against banking. In fact, I have four bank accounts, but I only use it for convenience. You can have your money in ATMs as a convenient and safe way of carrying your cash. You can also have a regular bank account or checking account where you can put your money (not for investment purposes) for your daily needs and to support expenses and money that are necessary to run your business if you have one (which should be readily available when you need it).

Banks are not the right place to grow your money. The going interest rate of banks range from 1% to 3% per annum (average for Philippine Banks), while inflation rate (rate of price increase of commodities per year) range from 5% to 7% (Philippines— rate as of writing).
What does that mean? So what if inflation is higher than the interest rate? Well here’s the equation, the value of your money decreases due to inflation.

Example:
You have 100,000 to save. You chose to save it in the bank. Let’s say the inflation rate is 6% and interest rate is 3% (exclusive of 20% withholding tax).
At the end of year 1, your money in the bank has earned interest of 2,400 (100,000 x 3% = 3,000 minus 20% withholding tax)

You are glad, that without doing anything, your money has grown to 102,400. But wait, it’s not the end of the story yet. Remember inflation? Yeah, the decrease in the value of your money –so the real worth of your money after year 1 is 96,256 (102,400-6%). It’s not too long that you will lose all your hard money through inflation.

Now you must have gotten the point, you must earn an interest higher than inflation rate. If banks can give that, go for it. By the way, there are also special products that bank offer that promise high returns – ask your bank about it.

Banks are not our enemy –its inflation

Please visit the investments section of this site to know more about investment products that offer high returns that suit your needs.

DETECT A LIE THROUGH EYES

Written by redbalmeo on 9:38 AM

The eyes are the window to one's soul. They tell you everything. By looking into someone's eyes, you can see part of his personality. You can tell if a person is intellect through his eyes (they are attentive). But do you know that you can somehow tell if a person is telling the truth or not just by looking into his eyes? According to John Grinder and Richard Bandler, proponents of Neuro-Linguistic Program, when you think, your inner experience is expressed by your eye movements. The following are ways to tell if someone is telling the truth or not:

UP LEFT
Photobucket
This means that the person is visually remembering what happened; since he is remembering something, that event must have happened. You can initially tell that he is not lying.

UP RIGHT
Photobucket
This means that a person is visually constructing an event. Since the person is constructing an event, it can be inferred that the person is not telling the truth or partly telling lies and partly telling the truth.

SIDE LEFT
Photobucket
This means that a person is remembering auditory things. Specifically sound of things. If for example you ask a person what he has heard, look into his eyes. His eye movement should be sidewards and to the left if he is telling the truth because this is how the eyes look like when remembering things that were heard.

SIDE RIGHT
Photobucket
As you have guessed, this is how the eyes look like when constructing or fabricating spoken words.

Put this to test. Ask a person different things that you are aware of. See and observe how the eyes move in relation to telling the truth or lie.

SOUTH BEACH DIET-PHASES 2 & 3

Written by redbalmeo on 6:38 AM

For me, Phase 2 of the South Beach Diet is the fun part. It is in this South Beach Diet's phase that you get to introduce back to your diet, the food that you really love, only with slight modification and should be done gradually. You don't want a spike in your hunger pangs and start munching like there's no more tomorrow. In this second phase of the South Beach Diet, you will slowly introduce the food that you like. You should however take caution not to over indulge and be back to your old habit of eating too much carbohyrdates. When you messed up with the second phase of the South Beach Diet, you can go back to phase 1 where food choices are limited and from there, return again where you left off from phase 2.

Phase 3 of the South Beach diet is the maintenance stage. By now, you should have mastered the principles of South Beach diet: less bad carbs, more good carbs.

South Beach diet should be considered as part of lifestyle, instead of chore or something that you are forced to do, to be able to succeed.

SOUTH BEACH DIET-PHASE 1

Written by redbalmeo on 6:22 AM

This is the strictest part of the South Beach Diet But don't be misled. Just because it is the strictest and full of prohibition does not mean starvation. In fact, South Beach Diet encourages you to eat 3 regular meals per day plus additional snack.

There are only certain foods allowed during this first two weeks of the South Beach Diet phase 1. your meal should revolve around food that has no or little carbohydrates. No pasta, bread, fruits, and alcoholic beverage.

For breakfast, it is recommended that you eat eggs with 2 slices of bacon. For other days, you can have egg with ham and low fat chees (no pasta, bread, rice or any carbohydrates).

For lunch, it should be a choice of vegetables or salad with vinaigrette and olive oil as dressing. No mayo or other dressing. You can also eat it with grilled chicken, lamb or fish (not fried). No sodas or drinks with high sugar content. Fruits are no-no for the first two weeks

For dinner, vegetables or salad with vinaigrette. Have some variety, you can have tomato stuffed with tuna salad. But no mayo or dressing. Only olive or canola oil is allowed.

SOUTH BEACH DIET PRIMER

Written by redbalmeo on 6:01 AM

The South Beach Diet is a 3-phase weight loss program developed by Dr. Arthur Agatston, one of the leading cardiologists in the United States. His goal of helping people with heart problems led to the development of a diet that is both good for people who want to lose weight and at the same time, has good effects for the heart. South Beach diet focuses on eliminating bad carbs and replacing them with good carbs.

South Beach Diet is composed of three phases. The first phase, which is the strictest, focuses on prohibition of carbohydrates for the first two weeks. The second phase of the South Beach Diet starts to introduce back the food that the person, undergoing the diet, really loves. He emphasized that most diet programs fail because of their inability to recognize the behavior of most people undergoing diet-- craving for food that they really love. The third phase is the maintenance phase, which should be a lifestyle change. Dieters can still eat the food they love, but slightly modified.

SOUTH BEACH DIET -- LOSE WEIGHT SAFELY

Written by redbalmeo on 4:52 PM

I am not super fat. My BMI is normal. Somewhere around 23. By the way, for you who are not familiar with BMI, it's actually the acronym of Body Mass Index.

Body Mass Index (BMI) The most widely used measurement for obesity. The BMI
approximates body mass using a mathematical ratio of weight and height [(weight
in kg / height in meters2) or (weight in pounds / height in inches2 x 703)]. A
BMI of 30 or more is regarded by most health agencies as the threshold for
obesity. A BMI of 40 or more generally qualifies as morbid obesity. However,
note that BMI measurements in body-builders and athletes may not be accurate
determinants of obesity because the BMI does not distinguish between muscle and
fat. --taken from

If I'm not fat, why do I want to be on a diet? Well, aside from the fact that I want to get leaner (which I think looks great), I want to be healthy. I've been eating a lot of junk that has put some toll on my body. Something which I believe will make me regret later on. I'm 22 years old and I am a chocoholic. I eat lots of sugar daily and I often order food from fastfood chains. Who would dare resist the food they offer? Those are the best tasting foods the world can ever offer. Well maybe those who have strong will can resist those food. But not me. I think that diet, as Garfield puts it is "die" with a t. I often equate it with eating green all your life.

The other day, when I was watching the television, I came upon a talk show that talks about diets. And the word south beach diet was mentioned and a brief story about it was also presented. I got intrigued by its promise that by two weeks, South Beach Diet can give you the shape you ever wanted. I tried searching the web for the word South Beach Diet and 3.5 Million articles showed up. Upon reading the first few articles, I decided that this week, I'll start on the South Beach Diet.

South Beach Diet is not about deprivation of food. It's not like other diet programs that force you not to eat. In fact, with South Beach Diet you can eat 3 regular meals and snacks. Plus, with South Beach Diet, you also get to introduce back to your diet, the food you really love. Amazing isn't it? I'm done reading the first phase (South Beach Diet by the way, has 3 phases) and I'm starting to go on this diet this week. I weigh about 70 kg. I'll update this blog after a week or two.

SKYCABLE 1 TV-ONE CABLE POLICY

Written by redbalmeo on 6:34 PM

I was surprised last week when I was told by my cousin that a cable guy went to our house--her room specifically-- to install what looked like a dvd player. Upon inspection, I found out it was connected to the cable wire, and an AV Jack connects to the television. I said to her that its the Skycable Digibox. I did not know that they're installing digibox to Skycable Silver Subscriber. I know all platinum Skycable users have that Skycable Digibox. I also asked her if the cable guy saw our splitter located in her room. She said she does not know because the cable guy did not ask her about the splitter in her room. Never have I thought that, it doesnt matter if you have splitter in your house (well starting last week) because it would not work anyway. The skycable digibox has some sort of a card with a sim card inserted in a slot located in front of the digibox that serves as transcriber. Without the Skycable digibox, you cannot watch anything.

I was disgusted. We have four televisions in our house that can simultaneously run with cable. Now, only one television can have the cable. I called Skycable and asked what we can do.

Here's the solution to Skycable digibox problem: To be able to have more than one cable, you have to subscribe for addiitional television (what a crap). The upfront payment you have to make are the following:

Deposit for the Skycable Digital Box : P1,500/television
For installation fee: P356/television
Monthly additional: P152/television. A whopping 2,000 per television.

We are making the Lopezes richer. I tried looking for other cable provider but their program is not that good compared with Skycable.

We are left with the following choices: staying with Skycable with one television, subscribing for additional television, and switching to other cable provider. I cannot decide right now. I don't know. It's gonna be a choice of quality but expensive cable and an affordable but not so good channel lineups.
